[2150] Allen in Doraville, GA  Long Time to Change Oil

This is store 2106 in Doraville ga . My truck has been in stall for 45 min for only a oil change. They are very slow at this place.they get your car in and hold it. It has taken them tow hours to change oil.

[2149] Albert in Duluth, MN  Loose Filter Results in Blown Engine

Here's another blown engine story about Jiffy Lube in Duluth, MN.

Driving down road and oil light on my 2012 eclipse came on... only when I idled at stoplight, as I accelerated it immediately went off. First time the idiot oil light had ever came on. Pulled off the road and checked oil and was down 2 quarts. Drove to nearest gas station a mile or so and put in 2 quarts, rechecked and it was still down 2 quarts...on a 4 cylinder. Had it towed to dealer where I bought it and the technician stated the oil filter was hand loose had been leaking from the filter and there was a catastrophic loss of oil.

Jiffy lube was where I last had oil changed, No return call from them, assistant Manager immediately became hostile and apparently the Manager never got message or decided not to do anything, NO CALL BACK! The Service manager at the dealer that diagnose the issue will not provide a written statement, prefer not to get involved. Ditto from White Bear Lake Mitzubishi who would not honor warranty nor provide any documentation of what happened to engine, even though light never came  until all oil was gone. The additional warranty from Sterling won't cover anything as they say it is manufactures warranty as it was under 60,000 miles. $4500 for used engine block and labor putting in.

Screwed every way possible by everyone involved!! God bless American Businesses for doing the right thing...NOT!!

UPDATE: I have the wrong company and would like to retract. The company should be Lube Pro's. Please retract my original statement

[2148] Aaron in Omaha, NE  Forgot to Tighten Filter

I just noticed my engine was knocking. I have a modest Kia Optima, just 60k miles and usually get my oil changes done at JL. I checked the oil immediately and found it to be empty merely 60 days after my service. I added oil and began trouble shooting. I found the leak at once beneath the oil filter. I went under the car and was able to wiggle and hand-tighten the filter back in. I let the car sit for a couple of days with large, new shop towels under the engine. No leaks. It is apparent that they failed to tighten the filter properly. I have spent 500.00 on a rental so far and have not heard back from them yet. I am not encouraged at all by what I have read here. It looks like I am simply screwed...

[2147] Zo in Las Vegas, NV  Crash Test Dummies

Your Company has a bunch of Unsagacious Crooked Employees at the 9520 W. Tropicana. Customer on and off for over 8 years with oil changes. Went for an oil change last week and the one of the crash test dummies that worked there forgot to put the oil cap back on. Of course oil went everywhere. Took it back, had them clean it and refund my money with a new oil change and a hand written $30.00 Coupon for a Coolant Flush, which is $109. (steep price anyway - can do it myself with a water hose, none-the-less) Told me they would help with the Coolant Flush.

Went back today to get the coolant flush done, and another crash test dummy is telling me I have to get an oil change again. I informed him he is smoking Crack. "But they need to be done together" he says. I am not stupid like others in Vegas. He says he will run It FREE. He then proceeds to tell me the price for everything is $179.84. WTF??? How is it more than a Chevy Dealership??? Been in law enforcement for 16 years, I send quite a few Officer with Fleet L-Cars and their POVs (Personal Vehicles)and this is how I am treated. I will be smiling when this place gradually rips so many people off that they wont return. I will be filing a BBB complaint and if I have to will go out of my way to ensure with posting, signs, media calls and inform other Officers to avoid this dump and the name Jiffy Lube like the Plague. Are you guys for real?

I really hope a somebody sees this that actually is in Corporate and truly cares about their service. Even crap service and other silly businesses I never write bad comments. Its not me, but this is over board. I would like an apology, which this day in age might be too much to ask, but it would be a start and make a difference. Need to Fire the Managers at this location and start anew. Business 101, cut the poisonous cells before it pollutes the whole body.

[2146] Steve in Boston, MA  Loose Plug

I went to Jiffy Lube at 950 Morrissey Blvd in Boston, MA  They left the plug loose and didn't tighten it back up. I filed a claim and they turned it down saying the temporary plug as they called it was stripped. Well it is not and never was. They just left it lose. Now I have to sue them in Court.

[2145] Todd in Wichita, KS Stolen Phone

04/03/2014 2:15 pm. Took my company truck in for service at Jiffy Lube located at 1624 E Pawnee Wichita, KS. Owned by RP Bell Ent.  my I phone 4 was left in console.  Service done, vehicle returned and I drove home.  Ten minute drive, When I arrived home, I reached for my phone and found it gone.  I called it and it went straight to voicemail.  I immediately returned to the J

iffy Lube and informed the store manager.  He apparently “questioned “ his employees and all denied having the phone.  I tried to have my serv provider locate the phone, they couldn’t /wouldn’t do it for me.  I was told by store manager that they would “get to the bottom of situation” and inform me either way.  4 days pass and I hear nothing from anyone.  After calling corp. office, and waiting on hold for nearly 30 min.  I got the name and number of the franchise owner locally.  I called.  I received a call back from Mike, district manager.  I found him insolent, condescending and rude.  He informed me that I should just go get a new phone, in a round about kind of way.  That leaves us at the present.  Me with no phone, and no real means to replace it, and Jiffy Lube not assuming any responsibility for it’s employees and their actions

[2144] Brett in Las Vegas, NV Overfilled Oil

Visited jl on Rancho dr. las vegas nv Sunday... I rebuilt my motor and have only been using Castrol 10-30 full synthetic. Wife picked up oil 5.1 qts to be exact and wix filter... I asked to her to grab the jug when they were done... She didn't... And I already knew JL!! Called them to find out that they added "their" oil with mine to make 5.5qts!!!  My car is on file at this location clearing showing 4.5qts!! So he retracts his statement saying we used 5.1qts of my oil... Still overfilled!!! Wouldn't answer any questions directly...kept going to make phone calls in garage where we followed him. Would not give me receipt stating what had happened... Or not happened. James was his name... He clearly said to us,"we don't even carry 10w-30 full synthetic so how could we top it off with our oil."lol leaves me wondering wtf is in my engine. Already drained a qt,myself of course, they will never touch another vehicle of mine unless I drive thru there -- store!!NEVER USE JIFFY LUBE!!! This is not first or even second issue with jl... Plain ol bullshit!!=

[2143] Christopher in Franklin, TN Hubcap Missing

On Sunday February 16th, I redeemed a Groupon at the Jiffy Lube at 1120 Murfreesboro Rd, Franklin, TN.  As part of that Groupon, a tire rotation was performed. The hubcaps are removed during this process.  Upon arriving home, I noticed that the hubcap on the passenger rear side was gone.

I called the manager on Saturday, February 22nd, and he asked me to call him back Monday. The burden of communication was shifted right back to me, the customer. He also claimed he was going to “check the video”. This is a false premise. The hubcap was reattached, just not reattached correctly, which is why it obviously fell off on my way home. An HD quality camera would not make a difference here.  I was able to call back on Wednesday, February 26th. I got the assistant manager, who informed me that the manager was not there. He assured me I would get a call back that same business day. I didn’t.

It is now March 6th. I have yet to hear anything. I am very disappointed and am bringing this to your attention in hopes that you can replace the hubcap. The services performed retailed at over $70. The Groupon cost me $36, and I paid $3.33 in tax. So for $40, I got an oil change, my tires rotated, and lost a hubcap- not an ideal transaction.

A used replica of this hubcap will cost me $25 online. It is a 2004 Sienna, and to add insult to injury, it is my wife’s car. Can you imagine doing a favor for the woman you love and you come back missing a hubcap because someone at JiffyLube cannot re-attach a piece of plastic to a tire rim? One wonders if the “camera” picked up an employee sending a text message with one hand while my hubcap was “attached” with the other.

The worst part is that literally no one seems to care that this happened. Mistakes occur, and they should be remedied. In this case, I was brushed off and ignored.

JiffyLube is the highest cost provider in its “quick oil change” niche. One should expect the highest level of service-  is that wrong? As of now, JiffyLube has flopped miserably.

[2141] Michelle in Lake City, FL  Air Destroys Pump

1/7/14 - Wanted to report a problem with an oil change on a 2011 Ford Diesel, wherein Jiffy Lube, Lake City, Florida, broke the housing during the oil change, but air had already gotten into the line.  Therefore, fuel pump had to be replaced, but they deny any wrong doing & we spent $665 replacing a bad fuel pump that wasn't bad before Jiffy Lube changed the oil.  The Ford dealer service manager stated he had seen this before.  He explains that air gets into system and aerates and hammers the fuel pump, damaging it.

Jiffy Lube told Jimmy -- to go somewhere to have it fixed and they would pay for it.  Of course, no they would not.

[2140] Chef in Warminster, PA  Engine Destroyed From Loose Oil Filter

I took My 2011 kia Optima in to Jiffy Lube In Warminster PA, although I live in Princeton, NJ where I only take my car for service at the dealership but thought I would be over the oil change and decided to get quick Oil change at store # 262 located at 600 west street road, Warminster, PA. on January 29th at 46,040 miles and recommended date to return on sticker and invoice states 51,040 which I have not reached yet.

On March 10th I was driving from work in NJ to Warrington PA and 12 miles away from Warrington I heard clicking and knocking noise in my quiet engine of a car that was certified new 7 months prior.  I check under the hood for the noise and to see where it was coming from and could not determined, I checked dipstick and found there was no oil, I walked across the parking lot to a advance auto and purchased 3 qts of oil, added it to engine and strayed over in PA until morning and had the car taken back to jiffy lube.

Jiffy lube checked the car and admitted verbal and on paper that they failed to tighten oil filter and drain plug where they also forgot the tamper seal around the plug which caused the oil to drain out of the car.

I was told that a GM would call regarding my engine noise and how we would take care of this, that call never came.  I ended up calling back the shop and they got the gm the message call back and he did after hours of waiting.  the GM stated that he was waiting to hear from higher up and that someone would be contacting me.

the district manager contacted me, he stated that an adjuster would be going out to the dealership where my car was, the dealerships diagnostic had determined the engine was damaged to lack of oil and needed a new engine which cost 8,800.00, the adjuster never went out to the dealership has he has told me he was going to do, he called me back denying the and claim because he stated that I was 1000 miles over my 3000 mile warranty however was not scheduled for another oil change until 5000 miles, also how was I to know that the oil was draining out of the car because the proper work was not preformed.

I m taking all doc.  to my attorney along with the finding of the dealership diagnostics and sue.  I only wanted my car repaired back to running conditions and have gotten no where and I think its wrong that this could happen to a consumer.

[2139] Sam in Lawrenceville, NJ  Engine Destroyed

I have had a terrible experience with Jiffy Lube that has cost me over $5,500. I took my car in for a simple oil change before travelling and it billowed thick white smoke when they were done. The manager wrote down that the car was running fine when I brought it in (which it definitely was), and that it left smoking. The car began overheating soon after and the resulting repairs have cost me a lot of money, including a blown head gasket ($2,600) in addition to the amounts specified below to the manager. The manager told me “he didn’t believe they did anything wrong and wouldn’t do anything for me,” so now I’m out the money on a tight student budget.

Below is the email I sent to the manger. I would really like help getting them to pay for my repairs.

Sam

Hi Damon,

There are two attachments-the first is the Jiffy Lube invoice from the day of service and the second is the complete invoice from the auto repair shop.  Below please find the chronology of events pertaining to my BMW X3, and my desired resolution.

Friday, August 9, 2013-  I finished my summer internship and took my car to Jiffy Lube to get a scheduled oil change at 9:00am in preparation for the 450 mile trip back to Chapel Hill, NC from Lawrenceville, NJ. My car was running great, without any issues or warning lights anytime that day or in the preceding months before I took it into Jiffy Lube for the oil change.

Upon completion of the oil change, I watched as my car was started and billowed out heavy white smoke.  The car misfired with a few codes, and all of the technicians gathered to determine the problem.  The car was then driven around for a few minutes to see if the smoke dissipated.  When the smoke did not go away, you ordered another oil change.  After the second change, the exact same smoke occurred, and the crew gathered for some time to determine the solution.

When no conclusion could be reached, you wrote down the occurrence on the invoice and I left concerned and frustrated.

I went back home, and my wife and I determined to chance the drive back to Chapel Hill, as we had a flight from Chapel Hill the next morning.  We packed our things and left, the whole time watching white smoke come out of the exhaust.

Other than the smoke, the car performed and got us back home, where we parked the car and left town the next day.

When we returned to Chapel Hill, the car began to overheat.  Nobody had driven the car while we gone, and I was alarmed.  However, the overheating seemed to be an isolated incident.  As the car suddenly rose in temperature, we turned it off and then it didn't overheat again for a week or so.  Finally, my wife was driving a couple of weeks later on Monday, September 2nd and the car overheated quickly and then shut down as she was driving on the freeway, with the check engine light coming on.  We got the car towed to Import Auto the next morning for repair as shown on their invoice.

The issue was immediately identified the bad crank case valve as the reason for the smoke, misfiring, and overheating-instigating other issues. Correspondingly, the thermostat and the water pump broke along with some hoses, the radiator, and the cooling fan. The car was in the shop from September 3rd to September 18th and the entire repair cost $4,451.65. I am aware that some of the services performed were unrelated to the issue-spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, engine belts, front differential, brake fluid, and transfer case fluid-as determined by council I've discussed the issue with.  However, there was significant and costly damage done to my car from the oil change that I ask for help with, including the following-

towing-$55.00
thermostat/water pump replace-$533.81
CCV valve/hoses replace-$522.27
coolant pipes replace-$597.47
radiator/hoses replace-$685.39
cooling fan-757.60
Total-$3151.54

[2137] William in Victorville, CA  Coupon Rip-off ReTrucks

I recieved a coupon in the mail for value  plus oil change for 19.99. On 1/10/14 I tried to redeem the coupon and get my truck serviced at the bear valley, Victorville , Ca. Location. When presenting the coupon the employee wearing a manager uniform, told me that the coupon did not apply to trucks. He then informed me that it would cost 69.00. I told him that was to much. He then said he could do it for 57.00 for oil change only. I then pointed to the sign in front saying oil change for 19.99.  He then told me that my truck needed 2 more quarts of oil !  I'm no mathamaticion but I'm pretty sure this means rip off. This is not my first encounter with gouging thru Jiffy Lube. They tried to charge me more for using my own oil filter and told me it was policy! I have 2 vehicles and have been a loyal customer with both. I am now now looking to find an honest service center !

[2136] Charles in Arlington, TX  No "Lube" at Jiffy Lube

I have been a Jiffy Lube customer of this location for years. Over the weekend, while driving , I realized that my suspension squeaked very loudly. When I got home I crawled under the truck and had my wife turn the steering wheel to locate the sound. All of the joints squealed metal on metal. I decided to check the grease on the joints. They were all dry. Jiffy “Lube” had not lubed anything and I suspected that it had NEVER lubed at my other visits. I took my truck to this j/l and told them that I needed the lube that they had missed. The three techs talked among themselves and told me they would but they could not.

The lube station did not work. Both hoses had broken tips and as long as they had worked there, it had been broken. In fact, they said they had NEVER done a lube at “Jiffy Lube”. Several months ago I had to have all the ball joints replaced on my truck.I had it done at a shop within 100 yards of this location. I am 54 years old and have never had to replace ball joints on my or my families vehicles. The lack of lubrication would most certainly cause premature wear. You cannot imagine my frustration and anger on finding these NEW JOINTS dry with NO LUBE. I trusted them to do what they put in writing. They are quick to push other services, many of which I paid to have performed. Transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluids changes among them. I have no way of knowing if any of them were in fact done. Since lubes were not done for any of their  customers (including commercial), It is obvious that they have NO regard for trust or integrity and a willingness to be dishonest.

[2135] Priscilla Oil Filter Problems Destroys Engine

I went to jiffy lube on January 25th of this year to get a oil change. On February 6th my car stopped running. I had it towed to a mechanic shop and the guy said jiffy lube didn't put filter on right and caused the engine to lock. Because of their negligence I now have to pay $1,713 for a engine. I want to get reimbursed. Of course they are not taking responsibilities of their mistakes. I will not let them get away with this. They damage people's cars all over the world and don't care about the customers or if they even have money to pay. I don't know if I should go to small claims court or get a lawyer and sue the franchise or corporate. I hope you can help me out. I do have receipt of that service performed.

[2134] Al in Overland Park, KS  Engine Destroyed From Wrong Oil Filter

Oil changed at JL #1355, Overland Park, KS on 2/12/14.  I have a 2003 Chevy S10 pickup, 4.3L V6, manual trans.  Oil filter used was MO3614. Long story short, drove home 20 miles, drove to work on 2/13 app. 8 miles, oil press 0, check engine and gauges light came on.  Find oil filter fell off. Contact Mgr of store, Shaun King, and told I would have to tow to a dealer and they could determine if they would reimburse me. Find a Ford oil filter was used on my Chevy as they didn't have the correct filter in stock. Dealership finds motor ceased, shrapnel went through the cooler to my radiator, all need to be replaced.

Quote not finished till noon on 12/14. Had to keep asking JL when I could get a rental car. Finally get DM email, Tim Butler, as store could not get quotes for some reason and send quotes to him since store could not. 4:15 PM on a Friday I am told by DM to get my own rental car as they could not approve one until Monday at least.

At this point no apology or compassion to get problem resolved.  At this point I have done all the work to get this problem resolved and waiting for someone at JL to take this matter serious and get my truck fixed.  I have also posted the complaint on their site.

Repairs for used engine will be app. $3300, rebuilt engine will add about another $1000.  I will try to update this situation as it progresses.

[2133] Jeanette in Boynton Beach, FL Forgot To Replace Oil Plug

Ok I always take my car to CarMax to get the oil changed, but being a Realtor I have been really busy and could not wait a week for my usual appointment with CarMax so since I was in the area of Boynton Beach in Florida on Congress and Woolbright there is a Jiffylube and decided this one time to get it done there.

on 2/14/14 I went in got the oil changed, paid and left, I got on I95 and drove about 6 exits to another town which is Boca Raton to meet with a client, once I arrived I got about 6-10 calls from a number from DC, I let it go to voicemail but they were pretty persistent in getting in touch with me so I picked up and it was the employee that did the oil change and he told me he forgot to put the cap back on my car from the oil tank in the bottom of the jeep, I WAS ENRAGED!!

I left my client there, lost her as a client, drove back to Boynton Beach, and I told them I don't want anyone touching my car, I was going to take it to CarMax to try to do damage control on my vehicle because the oil had drained out, the manager said he would do it himself, I insisted and he refused to give me the car part back, then I phoned he police, my husband who was on my cell phone spoke to the manager, well we all decided to let them place the cap back on when they pulled the car under the work station there was oil everywhere, on my back windows and windshield wipers, it was everywhere, they cleaned it up, placed new oil in it, gave me a refund and quit honestly...MY CAR IS NOT DRIVING THE SAME...there has been damage done to it and I have to take it at this point to the Jeep dealership.  they will for sure hear from my attorney.  AND PLEASE DO PUBLISH THIS, THANKS.

[2132] Brynlee in Tucson, AZ  Lied About Refund

I am VERY upset with Jiffy Lube. I had gone to them to have my rotors and brakes repaired and Jiffy Lube associates messed them up. I had to have them both replaced again 2 days later at a little place in my hometown. I was told to send them a copy of that invoice and they would refund me. That was a LIE. I have never been this disappointed in a company. I called to speak with District Manager, Richard Soto, and he will never return my calls/emails. He is very rude. I would like to know who I need to contact in order to get my refund like I was promised.

[2131] Joe in Wenatchee, WA  Insufficient Oil Added

On Saturday, January 25, 2014, I took my mother's 2007 Volvo XC 90 to the Jiffy Lube location on 746 South Mission St., Wenatchee, WA 98801, for an oil change. The oil change was completed, and I was charged $53.08, which I paid in cash.

On the way home, after driving about 25 miles, the low oil pressure light came on. After a few more miles, the "Fill Oil" red warning light came on, and I was fortunate enough to be near a hardware store, where I purchased some motor oil. I added 1/2 quart of motor oil, and the light remained on. The car was not driven for the following 6 days. There was no sign of oil leaking.

On Friday, January 31, I took the car to a mechanic in Leavenworth, WA. On the way, the low oil pressure light came on again. Fortunately, I was able to get to the auto repair facility before serious damage was done to my car.

The mechanics determined that the cause of the problem was that the motor was short at least one and a half quarts of oil.   Jiffy Lube failed to refill my car with the adequate amount of oil. Fortunately, I was able to avoid having serious damage done to my car.  I will never again go to Jiffy Lube!

[2129] Ciara in Indianapolis, IN  Scamming A Lady

Back in October I went to Jiffy Lube off of 116th street where I requested a simple conventional oil change. They refused to service my car unless I at least got the synthetic blend because they claimed the previous owner of my car always got full synthetic and that they couldn't switch back to conventional oil. I ended up spending $60+ on that oil change. They also claimed I had an oil leak and a transmission fluid leak. Not even a month later (and wayyy less than 3,000 miles later), my oil light comes on and I get yet another oil change. This time at the 79th and Fall Creek Jiffy Lube where they also claimed I needed new headlights. I got out and checked and both lights were on and working just fine.

Starting in December I started smelling oil burning and I thought it might have been my fault for topping off my oil weeks earlier. Turns out it was because oil was leaking and had been for awhile. I went to Midas today to get my oil changed and was told the oil filter cap was loose. The mechanic explained to me that wherever I last got my oil changed, the person draining the filter did NOT fully tighten the cap, thus causing an oil leak. He also told me I had no transmission leak and that wherever I last went was just trying to make more money off of me. I hate Jiffy Lube and their scams.

[2128] Randy Ramps Prohibit Service

Ramps have been installed at Jiffy Lube in both stalls and now I have to find some place else to take my 2007 Corvette because it is to low for the ramps. How about leaving one stall without the ramp. The Corvette ride height is stock, it hasn't been lowered. I missing the convenience of taking the car to Jiffy Lube. I'm just curious what is the purpose of the ramps?

[2127] Jim in Kansas City, MO  Too Busy For His Business

I visited your store # 3089 on 83rd street in Kansas City, Mo twice in 3 days...week of 1-13-14 both times I was told at least 1 hour just 2 get in the door, both times only 2 cars on the lot and none waiting. I think your guys needs some management at this store I ended up on North Oak @ your competition and paid them more than normal for service...

Johnny, the first to tell me too busy for my business was dark headed guy, his shirt said assistant Mgr.  There were two cars inside, 1 bay open, I have been coming to your store for about 2 years with 2 different vehicles and received great service...

I returned 3 days later and a young black headed fellow told me about an hour just to get in, 2 cars inside and one car in the outside bay to the far right  He stated only 2 men working this day...on extra services  Johnny, If you are the manager I am certain you have some kind of bonus or goals to meet for this store and your back pocket  If your 2 man crew gets tied up with more than the regular service on a vehicle your store is not any different than any other shop, slow, maybe you can get in maybe not.  I have been doing business with Jifffy Lube for over 25 years because they normally give detailed, good service.

[2126] Gary in Tustin, CA  Would Not Honor Coupon

I received a coupon in the mail for $11 off of my next oil change at Jiffy Lube.  I have a 2005 Corvette and the manufacturer recommends Mobil 1 5-30 synthetic oil.  I took my own oil and filter (AC) to Jiffy Lube in Tustin, CA to get the oil changed.  I told the person taking the order that I had a coupon.  He said I couldn’t use it because I brought my own oil and filter and they couldn’t double discount.  He said I saved $ 2 for bringing my own ($6.95) filter and $2 for bringing my own ($45) oil.  Total discount was $4.  I told him I didn’t bring the oil and filter to get a discount.  I brought the oil because Jiffy Lube didn’t have the oil I needed.  I told him to keep the $4 discount but to honor the Jiffy Lube coupon.  He said he wouldn’t do it.   I told him I wouldn’t be using their service and I took the car to my neighborhood service station along with the oil and filter.  They are charging me $23 to change the oil and filter, less than what Jiffy Lube would have charged even with the coupon – had they honored it.  I have a 2013 Ford Explorer and a 1998 Ford F150 that I have regularly serviced at this Jiffy Lube, but never again.
